Long Range Plan

Royal Oak Schools has successfully concluded a comprehensive Long Range Planning (LRP) process, culminating in the development of our new five-year Strategic Plan: Continuing Excellence. This initiative reflects our commitment to fostering an inclusive, diverse, safe, and student-centered environment, aligning with our mission to cultivate growth-minded students who are prepared to adapt in a dynamic world.

Collaborative Planning Process

Launched in October 2022, the LRP process engaged a diverse group of stakeholders, including staff, parents, students, and community members, through a series of committee meetings, surveys, and workshops. Key activities included:

  • Data-Driven Insights: Presentations on district demographics, enrollment projections, staffing trends, and financial overviews provided a solid foundation for informed decision-making.

  • Facilities and Safety Assessments: Evaluations of transportation systems, safety protocols, and infrastructure needs, including building maintenance and mechanical systems, were conducted to ensure a secure and efficient learning environment.

  • Curriculum and Instruction Focus: Discussions on curriculum development, DEI initiatives, International Baccalaureate programs, career and technical education, technology integration, and multi-tiered systems of support aimed to enhance student achievement and growth.

  • Community Engagement: Utilizing tools like Thought Exchange, we gathered input from over 600 participants, including staff and parents, to inform our planning with diverse perspectives.

Strategic Focus Areas

The insights gathered were organized into five strategic goal areas:

  1. Student Achievement & Growth: Enhancing curriculum and instruction to support academic excellence.

  2. Community Engagement: Fostering strong partnerships and open communication with all stakeholders.

  3. Resource Management: Ensuring efficient use of financial and facility resources to support district goals.

  4. Human Resources: Attracting, developing, and retaining high-quality staff committed to student success.

  5. Health & Wellbeing: Addressing the physical and emotional wellness of students and staff.

Each area includes specific action plans with defined timelines, responsible personnel, funding sources, and evaluation metrics to guide implementation.

Moving Forward

The Continuing Excellence Strategic Plan serves as a roadmap for the district from 2023 to 2028, guiding our efforts to provide high-quality education and support services. We will continue to engage with our community through regular updates, surveys, and meetings to ensure transparency and collective progress.

Together, as a #ROSCommunityofExcellence, we are dedicated to shaping a vibrant future for our students and community.
