Posted on 09/08/2023

Each year the U.S. News and World Report names the ‘Best High Schools,’ and for the ninth year in a row, Royal Oak High School was on the list.

Royal Oak High School ranked #2,276 in National Rankings and 69th in the state of Michigan.

According to U.S. News and World Report, “a great high school educates all students from different social and economic backgrounds, exposing them to challenging coursework on the path to graduation. The highest ranked U.S. public schools in the U.S. News & World Report's 2023 Best High Schools rankings are those whose attendees demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math, reading, and science state assessments, earned qualifying scores in an array of college-level exams and, graduated in high proportions.”

To produce the ‘2023 Best High Schools’ ranking, U.S. News worked with RTI International, a global non-profit social science research firm. Schools were ranked based on six weighted indicators: college readiness (30%), college curriculum breadth (10%), state assessment proficiency (20%), state assessment performance (20%), underserved student performance (10%) and graduation rate (10%).
