The audit, conducted by independent auditor Yeo & Yeo CPAs and Business Consultants, returned no adverse findings. Mike Rolka from Yeo and Yeo CPAs and Business Consultants shared audit results at the September board meeting. He has worked with the district for over 10 years.

Rolka said what impresses him about Royal Oak is that we are consistently ready for an audit so quickly after a fiscal year closes out. He said that is due to our great team and implementation and maintenance of internal control of our financial statements.

“Our audit found Royal Oak Schools financial records and statements are fairly and appropriately presented and in association with account principles generally accepted in the United States of America,” said Mike Rolka, an auditor with Yeo & Yeo CPAs and Business Consultants. He said that Royal Oak Schools is given an "Unmodified Opinion" which equals the highest level of assurance. He said that equals an A+.

"I am very proud of the hard work on being fiscally responsible stewards of the funds in Royal Oak Schools, all led by Kathy Abela, our Executive Director for Finance and Operations. Having strong internal controls in place, and having the cooperation of our entire staff makes it possible for us to obtain the highest rating of an unmodified opinion - A+,” said Superintendent Mary Beth Fitzpatrick.

Abela said it was all thanks to the staff. “Thanks to all staff, all departments for following the District internal controls. It takes each staff member every day, each timesheet, and reimbursement, in order to receive such a wonderful audit and the grade that the District received.”
